Shipping Manager

Responsibilities
• Accountable for leading the Shipping staff to deliver business results needed to meet Business Plan objectives
• Work with shift supervisors to evaluate and adjust available picking, audit and shipping capacity in order to maintain proper balance and work flow
• Work with supervisors to schedule distribution work centers including pick, pack and ship.
• Responsible for evaluating and planning labor for upcoming order fulfillment and shipping initiatives
• Collaborate with Operations management to ensure Shipping operates according to company's operations and order policies pertaining to retail, wholesale and eCommerce sales channels
• Work with Inventory Allocation Specialists to coordinate releasing orders from SAP to the WMS for fulfillment
• Responsible for working with Customer Service to assist in resolving issues related to order fulfillment and shipping
• Monitor and communicate to the Distribution Team all department metrics including on-time performance; order fill rate; safety; productivity and customer service. Focus on improving/maintaining these metrics.
• Responsible for improving and maintaining pick accuracy
• Assist with physical inventories and cycle counts as required, resolving inventory discrepancies
• Responsible for working with the Warehouse Manager regarding the layout and slotting of the finished goods materials bin locations
• Maintain a safe and organized work environment
• Participate and oversee weekly meetings within Distribution
• Maintain various reports and graphs pertaining to Distribution
• Responsible for working with the Distribution team in the planning and execution of lean techniques throughout the distribution center
• Document and maintain shipping procedures
• Serve as backup to Shipping Supervisors
Experience must include:
• 7 + years supervisory or management experience in distribution environment to include experience with retail, wholesale and eCommerce sales channels
• Experience with evaluating employee performance and conducting periodic employee reviews
• Strong shipping experience
• Firm understanding of FedEx, UPS and USPS parcel shipping requirements and associated manifesting systems strongly preferred
• Experience in evaluating parcel carrier contracts preferred
• Experience with shipping requirements associated to international sales a plus
• Experience with working in distribution environments that utilize temporary labor agencies a plus
• Experience with facility planning associated to business growth a plus
• Windows based PC experience with strong skills in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook including advanced skills in spreadsheet, database and graphing applications
• Knowledge of distribution automation systems, to include powered conveyor, automated sortation and pick-to-light technology preferred
• Experience with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) a plus; experience in ILS and SAP software systems preferred.
