Job Description:
• Area of specialty-neurosciences which may include neurology and /or neurosurgery.
• Assist with admission work-ups and/or consults to facilitate care across the continuum.
• Initiate, monitor, alter and order treatments including but not limited to device placement, physical and occupational therapy, home health referral, and discharge planning.
• Re-evaluate the patient throughout the hospitalization and modifies plan of care as needed in collaboration with clinical staff.
• Demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide service appropriate to the age and development of the patient.
• Perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures as indicated for diagnosis and management of problems.
• Complete wound assessments, initiates basic skin care orders.
• Order laboratory, radiological and diagnostic studies that will assist with the medical management; explain the necessity, preparation, nature and anticipates effects of treatments, and diagnostic and therapeutic procedures to the patient.
• Follow clinical practice protocols and guidelines agreed upon by supervising physician as stated by Collaborative Practice Agreement.
Requirements:
• Graduate from Board of Nursing approved Nurse Practitioner Program
• Current NC RN Licensure and NC Nurse Practitioner
• National Board Certification as a NP required.
• Three years experience in a health care setting.
• May substitute NP/PA with no previous experience as NP if applicant has clinical experience in an acute care setting with direct patient care for a minimum of two years.
